2016-03 Favorite Postcards Received

My Postcrossing ranking for March 2016 as below:-

On 79th most postcards sent from Malaysia
On 82nd longest distance sent from Malaysia

This is postcard from Marleena Ansio. I did not know what the postcard about so I was using google translate and the result also quite blurr. When translated to English, it about “Life is to be able to enjoy, and once in a while is also a necessary moment of indulgence and stationery”. I just curious that why have the word of “stationery”?

When exchange postcard with Zhen, she required me to fill in all the details in G-Form. In the form has ask me to choose what kind of postcard which wish to receive and she had listed down some choices and one of the choices is herself portraits postcard. When received the postcard, she told me that I am the one who want to receive her own picture as postcard. Haha..

Before this Secret Garden coloring was very popular and this postcard is also from a coloring book of “Secret Garden”.

On 19th March 2016, it had Postcrossing meeting in Uppsala, Sweden. This postcard was created for this meeting and at the back of postcard has signature of Postcrossers who attend the meeting.

This postcard was from Ningxia, China. Zhan Long told me that Ningxia has beautiful lake, mountains, desert and Great West Xia Culture, Hui Muslim Culture. If have chance I also wish to go there to take a look.

This postcard shows the illustration of Giant leatherback turtles have returned to the same spot in Terengganu for centuries to lay their egg. This postcard is quite funny because when turtle lay the egg, suddenly it was fart. I just curious that what the reaction of the people who saw it. Haha..

This postcard is teaching Cantonese idiom which is to lure a ghost to eat tofu means to trick someone. I like this postcard very much because the way it presents is so interesting. If you don’t know how to pronounce can scan the QR-code to listen it.

Flint and Steel Borneo: Kuching Postcards

The co-founders of Flint and Steel Borneo are Marilyn and Rachel Ang who maybe identical twin sisters but are in many ways different. A flint is a piece of chert, a form of quartz that will spark when struck with steel and is usually used to start a fire therefore “flint” and “steel” represents the co-founders. I like their quote which is “Be in Love with the things that make you different and believe in yourself boldly. They make you, YOU: your passions, your beliefs, your values and your story. That is your power.

Flint and Steel Borneo is selling mug, planner, postcards, notepad and many more. Look through the website of Flint and Steel, I had attracted with a series of Kuching postcards because it is so beautiful.

For your information that all the purchases in website is using USD instead of Ringgit and the payment can be done by PayPal, debit card and credit card. After I made an order of postcard and want to pay for it. I found out that the system did not allow me to proceed although I had tried for 2 debit cards. Then I had asked a help from Flint and Steel Borneo by email them.

I had been contacted by Rachel regarding my problem in payment and instead of waiting IT to troubleshoot the problem, she had asked me to bank in to her own bank account. I also had been told that a set of Kuching postcard which has 9 pieces and now only left 4 types of it and this series of postcard will not reproduce once it sold out. Then she will give me two sets of the 4 types of postcard to become 9 of them.

At the same time, I also won a giveaway from Flint and Steel Borneo towards World Autism Day Campaign to spread awareness and love for Autism. To participate for the giveaway, I just need to post a picture of anything blue in social media with hastag. Therefore prize and my purchase sent together to me.

Flint and Steel Borneo had collaborated with talented photographer friend Ben Lau to bring the very first of their Postcards from Kuching series. This collection features the must see places every tourist should hot up when in Kuching. I only have four types of postcards instead of nine different pieces of Kuching postcards. The 4 pieces are in black and white. Actually in a set of 9, some of postcards are in colorful. To have a clear view of postcard click here.

These are wristband and car sticker from EAP (Early Autism Project).

This is the desk monthly planner in the color “Deep Fishing” which suitable for writes down my schedule. The good for this desk planner is undated so I can start whenever I want. A pack has 12 designs which for 12 month.

Like usual, I will ask the seller or designer of postcard to write some words for me on postcard. They are so sweet that write on a new postcard which are not from my purchase’s postcard.

Write Poems on Postcard

What can write on postcard instead of self-introduction, joke, drawing and so on?

In month of March and April, I had started to copy poem on postcard. I had searched in Google to find some poem related with the topic of month.

Wind of March
Winds of March,
We welcome you,
There is work for you to do,
Work and play and blow all day,
Blow the winter cold away.

April
April is a rainbow month,
Of sudden springtime showers,
Bright with golden daffodils,
And lots of pretty flowers.

Beside write the poem, I also included some doodle on the postcard.

My Book Haul from Popular Online

Popular book store is quite famous in Malaysia as many places also have this book store but in my place did not have it therefore I always purchase book via online. In last year, Popular book store had organized a book fair at my place.

At early of the year, I had a 25% discount voucher by participating one of the events organized by Popular Online. This 25% discount voucher only applicable for one book with the highest price from your total purchases.

The postage for book as below:-

For East Malaysia who orders RM 100 and above can enjoy free postage. Besides that, for those come to book store to get the book also did not need to pay for shipping.

I had waited for around 1 month to receive my book because some of my books are not ready stock so need to wait for deliver from other places. The times I received the parcel, my books are nicely wrapped with bubble wrap inside a box. Beside books, I had received a pocket calendar.

Renewal Passport 2016 @ UTC

In February 2016, UTC (Urban Transformation Centre) had been launched by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak. UTC is one of the Government effort and initiatives providing the urban community with key government and private sector services under one roof.

Inside UTC had Immigration Department so the old Immigration Department only applicable for applying visa and so on. As my passport had expired so I go to renew it for my next travel.

9th April 2016

This was my first time to go into Immigration Department in UTC. The time I push the door, I can saw it has a board show the direction to get the number. Therefore I went to counter 1 and the officer asked for my purpose and gave me a waiting number.

After a while, it was my turn and I went to counter 3. I served by a lady officer. I gave my identity card and old passport for her to proceed with my renewal process.  After thumb print confirmation and asking some questions, I need to take a picture.

After taking my picture, the officer was so nice that asked me whether I want to retake picture as for her opinion that I can take a nicer picture while a guy officer who assisted the lady officer also think that maybe I need to retake because one side of my hair looks thick but I just said I am ok with that picture. I guess they will surprise for my answer. Haha..

After settle down my picture taking, I need to double check for the information printed. Then, I wait again for payment. After a while, I been asked to pay for passport (RM 200 for 5 years) and get a receipt. The officer told me to wait for another 5 minutes. While waiting, I can watch the TV.

After payment and went to my seat, I had been asked by a Malay lady that where I travel to. She spotted that I had paid more money than she. After heard of my answer, she knew it. The lady applied visit pass to Brunei only so she only need to pay for RM 50.

Around 5-10 minutes, I had asked to collect my passport after double check with the details in passport. I was so surprised that I can get passport in less than an hour. Great job for Immigration Department!

Little Kingdom

So far, this was my first time to purchase postcard which drawn by little artists. The little artists are Chang Xin Yue (10 years old) and Chang Xin Le (8 years old). Two of them like to draw and they even had their own art exhibition called “Little Kingdom Art Exhibition”.

Through the radio station, I knew about Little Kingdom and started to follow their fan page. After few days, they had released some items for sell such as stickers, calendar and postcards. To give them some support, I had purchased postcard from them. This fan page is handle by their parents. Now you can find their products at Etsy store.

When I received the postcard sets, it was well packed.

I had purchased one set of the postcard from each of them.  I also received two pieces of “Star Wars” stickers as freebies.

The cat postcard set draw by Xin Yue while Star War postcard set draw by Xin Le.

They are so talent because they already been using watercolor to draw something instead of color pencils. In my memory, I just started to use watercolor when I was at Secondary school. Although they drawing are not so perfect compare the real artist, I still can see their passion towards drawing and their drawing skill definitely will getting better after some practices.

Like usual, I had made a small request for their mum to ask them to write something on postcard. As they are small and did not know what to write so I had changed to draw something on postcard for my own collection.
