The Equator monument is located on the equator in Pontianak, Indonesia. It marks the division between the northern and southern hemispheres- Wikipedia

On the way to Singkawang, we stopped by The Equator Monument Museum for a while. Before the trip, I saw review that go to The Equator Monument Museum quite easy because can use GO-JEK but when back is quite difficult as at there are less GO-JEK driver. The Equator Monument Museum is located at other part of Pontianak as need to cross the bridge. If really want go by GO-JEK can ask driver to wait for a while or get the handphone number of driver.

-First monument built in 1928 by a Dutch geographer.

-1930 completed, in form of bollard radially and dart.

-1938 rebuilt with completion by architect Silaban. The original monument is still visible in the interior.

-1990 renovated with the addition of a dome to protect the original monument and also making of duplicate of monument of the size five times bigger than its original size.

-Its grand opening on 1991 September 21.

At there, I saw has some construction around the monument museum. I think in future, here will has many entertainment or become bigger.

Inside of it is quite small which you can read all the information about equator monument and its picture.

At equator monument means that I had crossed the equator, so cool! I been given a certificate that proved I crossed equator.

Make sure you visit this monument at the right time so that you can see the unique of natural phenomenon at this location. When the sun has the right position on the equator, the sun culmination will occur. At the moment, you will not be able to see the shadow objects, as well as the shadow of the monument which will disappear in a few moments. This was caused by the sun's position is really on a straight line with our heads. If you want to find those moments, you have to come to this monument at around dated March 21 to 23 and 21 to 23 September because of the event is only happens 2 times a year. The crowning event of the sun culmination can be seen only about 5-10 minutes. While waiting for the culmination, in the equatorial monument Pontianak held a series of traditional events which attended by local and foreign tourists- Indonesia Tourism

At the time I went to equator monument in the morning therefore I unable to see the sun culmination. For those interested to see the sun culmination, remember to go on these 2 dates (21 to 23 March & September)

Based on online review that some people did not get the certificate upon visit, I am so lucky that can get it. I think that maybe 21 September is the anniversary opening for monument museum therefore; they will organize some events (in these few days) that include giving certificate.
