2016-11 Favorite Postcards Received

My Postcrossing ranking for November 2016 as below:-
On 65th most postcards sent from Malaysia
On 64th longest distance sent from Malaysia

In this month, I received my portraits postcard which look exactly me.

I like this postcard which has the pictorial map of Japan. It is introduced toys in Japan which is so interesting.

Shiisa is a traditional Ryukyuan decoration, often in pairs, resembling a cross between a lion and a dog from Okinawan mythology. People place pairs of shisa on their rooftops or flanking the gates to their houses. Shisa are wards believed to protect from some evils. When in pairs, the left shisa traditionally has a closed mouth, the right one an open mouth. The open mouth wards off evil spirits and the closed mouth keeps good spirits in.

Nagashibina is an event that involves dispelling impurities and misfortunes by floating dolls away on water. In this rite, dry straw is woven into a boat which carries a pair of male and female dolls to be cast adrift in the river.

Okiagari-koboshi is a Japanese traditional doll which made from papier-mache and is designed so that its weight causes it to return to an upright position if it is knocked over. It is considered a good luck charm and a symbol of perseverance and resilience.

Temari is Japanese thread balls.

Kokeshi are Japanese dolls originally from northern Japan. They are handmade from wood, have a simple trunk and an enlarged head with a few thin, painted lines to define the face. The body has a floral design painted in red, black and sometimes yellow and covered a layer of wax. One characteristic of kokeshi dolls is their lack of arms or legs.

Akabeko is a legendary cow from the Aizu region of Japan who inspired a traditional toy.  The toy is made from 2 pieces of papier-mache-covered wood, shaped and painted to look like a red cow or ox. One piece represents the cow’s head and neck and the other its body. The head and neck hangs from a string and fits into the hollow body. When the toy is moved, the head thus bobs up and down and side to side.

Kamifusen or paper balloons emerged as a charming alternative to the rubber balloon. It created by the wives of fishermen during the winter season with handmade paper.

It was my first time to hear about “Kuopio”. Sena told me that the postcard showed picture of market hall which is in the centre of Kuopio. Kuopio is a city located in the region of Northern Savonia, Finland.

This is the illustration of a Taiwan man with Poland lady. They are getting married soon.

Besides writing some words, my friend Ling is so creative that telling her travel story in drawing which is so creative and beautiful.

Beside Malaysia Airlines and Air Asia, I did not take other airlines before. Hope in future can try for other airline. This is Singapore Airline postcard.

Mask Haul from Sephora Malaysia

Sephora is a visionary beauty retail concept founded in France by Dominique Mandonnaud in 1970. It’s unique, open sell environment features an ever-increasing amount of classic and emerging brands across a broad range of product categories including skincare, makeup, fragrance, body and hair care and in addition to Sephora’s own private label.

In Malaysia also has Sephora store which you can pay for visit but in my place (Labuan) don’t have Sephora store. Luckily I can buy some beauty stuff through Sephora website. All the items are ship from Singapore and can enjoy FREE SHIPPING when purchase amount more than RM 80. For those orders below RM 80 need pay for RM 20 of shipping fee.

Let take a look for my mask haul before you start to shop at here.

Sephora Collection of mask has a very good review via online so sure I will buy some for a try. It offers wide range of flavors which suit for your daily need.

The packaging of sleeping mask is so cute in ball shape like Pokemon ball. This mask contains a luxurious cream-gel that absorbs into skin while you sleep. I choose for Avocado which for moisturizing and nourishing.

It is recommended using one or twice a week. First take a small amount with your fingertips then massage onto clean face and neck around all areas. Next, leave on overnight and if necessary rinse off the excess in the morning.

Upon application, I can smell some light scent of avocado. Apply in thin layer so that it is easily absorbed to skin and the gel will not stick on pillow. At the next morning, I can feel my skin is been moisturizing.

During travelling, it is not convenience to bring ball shape mask around so you can buy some mono sleeping mask. It’s save a lot space.

Spending most of the time on computer and hand phone made my eyes looks dull. Therefore an eye mask is a must to make my skin relax and fights signs of stress.

It is recommended using one or twice a week. First open the sachet and take out a pair of eye mask. Then remove the protective film from the white fiber patches and apply the patches under each eye area and leave for 15 minutes. Then gently massage the skin to allow the essence to absorb.

Before - Apply - After
When open the sachet, I can smell the ginseng scent. After apply the eye mask, I can feel the skin around my eyes hydrated.

Speaking about mud, I think many people will think it is smelly but the real is light smell of mud which good for protect against skin damage because the mud is rich in nutrients with essential minerals. It is 9,000 years old black moor mud which harvested by hand from the Irish countryside.

This mask is good for purifying (Irish Moor Mud), decongesting (Activated charcoal) and hydrating (Hijiki Seaweed). It is formulated WITHOUT parabens, sulfates and phthalates.

It is recommended using one or twice a week or before a special event. First, use fingertips to apply the mud mask on clean skin. Then leave on up to 10 minutes. After that remove with damp washcloth and rinse skin thoroughly of any remaining residue. You can follow with moisturizer and/or sun protection.

When apply the mask, I can feel a “spicy” feel on my mask but don’t too worry as a cooling sensation indicates the mask is working. After masking, I can feel that my face is clean and moisturizing.

For all purchases can redeem samples for a try so what you wait for, let shop in Sephora.

[Guest Post] Mesothelioma Treatment Options

Before this I had been wrote a post about Mesothelioma which you can read at here. Recently I had been collaborating with Community Outreach Vounteer to share more about Mesothelioma especially for treatment parts.

Although there is no cure for mesothelioma, there are several mesothelioma treatment options that are available. The focus of these specific treatments is based on improving prognosis for mesothelioma patients. Even if a patient does not have a viable lifespan, alternative therapies and palliative care help in reducing any type of suffering and pain that is associated with mesothelioma. The choice of treatment options for mesothelioma depends on numerous factors. These include the stage of the cancer, type of mesothelioma, overall health of the patient, patient’s preference and potential side effects of the treatment. It is important that you learn about the available treatment options if you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma. Ask your doctor questions about each treatment option as well as the goals and possible outcomes of each treatment.

Surgery
Surgery is the most common method that is used to treat mesothelioma when the disease is diagnosed at an early stage. A surgical procedure can be performed to remove most of the tumor or all of it. Surgery can include the removal of the mesothelial lining, lymph nodes, part of or the entire organ like the lung depending on the location of the tumor.

Chemotherapy
This treatment option entails the administration of chemotherapy drugs. Upon administration, the drugs attack the fast-growing cancer cells. Chemotherapy is usually used with other treatment options. For instance, chemotherapy drugs are administered to kill all mesothelioma cells that are left behind after the surgeon is unable to remove them physically.

Radiation therapy
This treatment option entails the use of radiation that targets mesothelioma tumors. Targeted radiation shrinks mesothelioma tumors making their removal through surgery easier. Radiation is delivered using an internal or external source depending on the location of the tumor.

Experimental treatment options
In addition to the above conventional mesothelioma treatment options, there are other treatments for mesothelioma that researchers are working on. Some of them are extremely promising and they have already undergone clinical trials successfully. They have also been proven effective in not only extending mesothelioma patients’ lives but improving the quality of life as well.

These include:

•             Gene therapy
This is a mesothelioma treatment approach that is based on the fact that mesothelioma cancer is caused by a fault in the DNA of the cell. Therefore, the disease can be fought by overwriting or fixing problematic genes.

•             Immunotherapy
The idea behind this treatment option is that by boosting or kick-starting the immune system, it harnesses the immune system’s power and enhances the body defenses to be able to fight mesothelioma cancer. Immunotherapy has been showing excellent results.

•             Photodynamic therapy
Using photosensitizing drugs and light, researchers have established a way of killing cancer cells. The way this works is a drug is injected into the patient to bond to the cancer cells after which a high intensity light is used to activate it. This treatment approach has few side effects but is definitely worth looking into.

Emerging treatments and clinical trials
Clinics across the world perform continuous clinical trials on all sorts of common and uncommon diseases. These trials are focused on establishing new ways of treating various cancers including mesothelioma. Clinical trials are the only treatment options that can provide hope and opportunities for patients that are still looking for effective treatments for mesothelioma. For instance, researchers are currently investigating new chemotherapies, targeted drugs and protocols for providing medications. Some trials also focus on expanding the realms of immunotherapy (mentioned above).

Other mesothelioma treatment techniques under investigation include novel radiotherapy and genetic therapy. It is strongly advisable that you learn about all the available mesothelioma treatment options so that you can make an informed decision when choosing a mesothelioma treatment for you or for a loved one.
