Hotel NEO Gajah Mada - Pontianak is a boutique budget hotel featuring 105 rooms across two different room categories. The abundance of facilities includes five stylish meeting rooms, a combined function room, a coffee shop on the rooftop, ample parking space, and truly high-speed complimentary internet. The hotel is therefore the ideal match for travelers on a sensible budget who appreciate quality design and amenities.

Soaking up the city's potential, Hotel NEO Gajah Mada – Pontianak sits adjacent to the famous Gajah Mada Shopping Complex, right at the heart of Pontianak’s business and culinary districts. The hotel is also only 20 minutes from the Supadio International Airport, and can be reach within 10 minutes via Pontianak’s seaport, Dwikota Harbor- Website

The receptionist is so cool in look as the girl is wearing white wig. We planned to take picture with female receptionist during check out but that time only has male receptionist. Next time you go, do not forget direct request to ask for picture together, don’t wait. Haha..

We stayed in Superior room with two single beds. The cost for Superior room (2 nights) + breakfast is 649,049 Rupiah that we pay when check in. It is not included 50,000 Rupiah for deposit which is refundable during check out. From the hotel website, it stated can add on extra bed.

Inside room has a small fridge. Remember to adjust the temperature. I bought ice cream from Indomart and put into fridge. The next day, my ice cream was melting. The problem is I did not adjust the temperature, I saw that the light inside fridge is on so I thought the fridge is cool.

The light in room is romantic type (less bright). I like the bed light that can be adjust. If my friend sleep, I can twist the light to my side without disturb my friend from sleeping.

My room view is hotel’s front view that can see the church, road and some hotels.

The TV channel of this hotel has many.

Inside washroom has toothbrush, shampoo, shower bar and many which been provided.

The WiFi sometime strong and sometime will disconnect, not so stable but still can use it.

The breakfast in Noodle Now Restaurant in level 11 is buffet style (6am to 10am).

You can ask cooker to prepare different type of egg that you want. The choice of breakfast also consider many such as noodle, rice, porridge, salad and many more.

In restaurant, can choose sit inside the restaurant or outside which like rooftop restaurant.

The Concierge staff is so friendly. When we go out from hotel and look for lunch, he told us that where could eat and assist us to cross the road. The road is full of cars and motorcycles.  He blow the whistle and stop the car so that we can safely cross the road.

The location of hotel is strategic which you can easily to hunt for food within walking distance. Near with hotel has convenience store Indomart (same row). I buy some mineral water at there.

Supadio International Airport (IATA: PNK, ICAO: WIOO) is an international airport located 17 km from Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The airport is managed by PT. Angkasa Pura II, and takes up 528 ha- Wikipedia

When in flight, we required to fill in Customs Declaration.

When reach airport and cleared immigration, we asked to queue up and all the luggage or bag put in front of us. Then police will accompany with dog to go around us to ensure that we did not bring drug.

We planned to use GO-JEK app to travel around therefore, we need to buy a Sim card. We choose to buy one Telkomsel Sim card only for internet (5GB) which cannot call out. It cost us 40,000 Rupiah. This was my first time to buy Sim card in overseas, before this, I usually use WiFi in hotel.

I asked the staff to help me change the Sim card in my phone. Luckily, I request for it because after changed the Sim card, I cannot surfing internet. The staff said is setting problem and helped me to fix it.

After settle with the Sim card, we use airport taxi to go to hotel.

When back, I saw that in airport has A&W.

The Changing Station not all function well.

GO-JEK Indonesia

GO-JEK is an Indonesian hyperlocal transport, logistics and payments startup founded in 2010. It aims to improve the welfare of workers in Indonesia’s vast informal sector. It is also the first startup of Indonesian origin to be classified as a transport system. GO-JEK’s name is derive from ojek, a transport service that uses motorcycles. -Wikipedia

The app is very easy to use. First time user need register your account by using local or International handphone number also can. After that, click the services that you want such as “Go-Car”. Then, the app will automatic detect your places and you just need key the destination that you want to go. After that, click “Order” and app will start find the nearest driver. You can see the face of driver, what type of car, where the driver now, fare and others.

Every time order the car service, the driver will call your handphone number for verification.

GO-JEK offers variety of services but I just use Go-Car. For those who travel in solo can use Go-Ride which is cheapest.

Firstly, we plan to eat Chai Kue at A Hin Chai Kue Panas Siam. The driver took us to there and found out that it is close therefore, he suggested bring us to D’Bamboo.

I used 14 times for this app to travel around in Pontiank. The minimum fare is 10,000 Rupiah. All the drivers who I met are man. We use cash to pay for driver. I sat for variety of cars that include some car brand that I did not heard before such as Nisssan March, Datsun Go+, Honda Brio and many more.

In Pontianak did not has parking coupon but need to pay 2,000 Rupiah to a guy which help you to look for your car when you want to drive out from parking lot.

It is very easy to travel around with GO-JEK and the fare is no so expensive. Seem like next time travel to other places in Indonesia can use this app too.
