Kuala Lumpur Trip 2015: Telekom Museum Malaysia

In Malaysia, we are so familiar with Telekom Malaysia (TM) because we are using its services such as telephone, internet and many more. This time, I bring my family to Telekom Museum to take a look.

Telekom Museum has unique 2 storey building of Neo-Classical Greek architecture stands among Kuala Lumpur's skyscrapers at the junction of the Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Gereja. It was originally built in 1928 to house the Central Battery Manual Telephone Exchange and in 1985 was gazetted for conservation as part of the national heritage.

TM Point is at same building with Telekom Museum. TM Point is a place to pay for telephone bill or to subscribe to new TM services.

Went inside the entrance of Telekom Museum, a big telephone was caught my attention so I took a picture with the big telephone first. It was located at the front of Telekom Museum Café.

We need to climb a stairs to reach the museum. At the stairs, we had seen some collections such as a replica of Telekom Museum.

The entrance fee for Museum Galleries as below:-

My Kad
Adult RM 6
Child & School with uniform RM 3
Student Outreach: School Secondary/ Primary RM 22 and IPT/IPTS RM 32
Group (more than 10 peoples): Adult RM 4 and Child RM 3

Gallery 1: Pre Historical

A glimpse of the early means of relying information and the various communication tools used in the country. The ranges are from the Neolithic paintings found in the Tambun cave, Batu Bersurat to the Ketuk-Ketuk.

Looking these collections reminds me of History class in Secondary School.

Gallery 2: The Beginning of Telecommunications

The pioneering efforts of the telecommunication industry are well captured in the telecommunication industry in this section of the museum that include the early telecommunication system in the form of the Morse Code began in Taiping in the 1870s and by 1878, network are already established in the various settlements and towns.

Gallery 3: Pre and Post-Independence Telecommunications

Visitors can also get to view the various types and shapes of telephone used in the country from the 1930s. Telecommunication system moved so rapidly from the facsimile machines to Atur 450 and the first cellular system the introduced in the country in 18985. Then, came the Smartfon which uses second generation cordless telephone technology.

This is the first telephone directory book.

I like this gallery as I can see the movement of the phone which is so interesting.

Before move to Gallery 4, I had seen a replica of KL Tower. Of course, I want to take picture with it. I seem very small when took the picture with KL Tower.

Gallery 4: Modern Era: HSBB Experience Centre

The worldwide evolution to experience the senses of sight, sound and motion. This will bring greater value through a richer digital lifestyle and online experience, enhanced competitiveness and world-class broadband infrastructure.

Museum usually displays the past but in Telekom Museum, you can see the things which we use such as laptop, TV and many more.

In Telekom Museum website had stated has Galley 5 which about air telecommunications but I did not visit it because I did not where is this gallery.

When we back, the staff had given all of us a wrist band as souvenir. We visit this museum on Friday (weekday) so it did not have lots of people. That time, we are the only customers so we can freely take pictures.

Bukit Bintang: Iris Garden Hotel

It is very difficult to find a hotel which can accommodate 5 people in one room because the maximum will be 4 persons per room. I was quite headache in finding hotel.

The location for Iris Garden Hotel is very strategic because it is very near with Bukit Bintang Monorail and shopping mall. This hotel had built in the year of 2011.

The times I went there, the hotel was having promotion which offer RM 190/night for Family Deluxe Room (Normal price RM 220).  The room rate is not including 6% of Goods and Services tax (GST). When check in, need to pay RM 50 as deposit and remember to keep your receipt properly in order to claim back during check out. During check in, beside room card, receptionist will give you TV and air-conditioner remote control and you need to return upon check out.

The reason I chose for Iris Garden Hotel because it allows 5 people in one room without extra bed. The beds in Family Deluxe room is king size which 3 peoples can sleep on a bed because king size bed is big.

Inside room has TV, table, chairs, small refrigerator and wardrobe. It has a mirror which can see whole body.

I like the washroom because it is so big. I think five of us go into washroom also feel spacious. Hotel did provide normal toiletries such as shampoo, shower cap and soap. You can choose hot or cold water during shower.

The WiFi in room is good and our room is very near with WiFi modem. The selection of TV programme is limited because it only has TV 1 and TV2 but I also cannot complaint a lot because this is one star hotel.

In the room did not provide hair dryer. For those who need it, you need go to receptionist counter for a requests and pay for RM 30 as deposit. This was my first time heard that borrow hair dryer also need to give deposit. I think this hotel maybe having many cases that the customer did not return it.

From my room’s window can see the view of Bukit Bintang. My dad likes the room with window so he can see the building, people and many more.

The receptionist is very friendly so if you have any questions can ask her. She had told me the direction to Bukit Bintang Bus Station to take Go KL City Bus when I asked her.

For room cleaning, you need to inform receptionist and pass the room card to he/she. If not, they will not clean the room for you.

At the last day morning, I found a cockroach in the washroom. I think the hygiene standard in this hotel needs to improve.

Manila Trip 2015: Intramuros : San Augustine Church + Museum

San Augustine Church originally known as “inglesia de San Pabio” founded in 1571 is the oldest church in the Philippines. In year 1993, it declared by UNESCO as World Heritage Site.

The time we arrived San Augustine Church, it was closed because it has wedding function so we just took some pictures at outside of church.

The San Augustine Museum was opened so I went to take a visit. The entrance fee for museum as below:-

Adult 100 peso
Senior Citizen 80 peso
Student (Local students with ID) 80 peso

Inside of museum have collections of Spanish era artifacts, furniture, paintings, statues and other church ornaments.

My friends did not interest for museum so I alone went inside to visit. I just have 15 minutes to visit museum while my friends went around near with church for photo taking. Therefore, I just have a quick view and snap for all the collections in museum.

All the collections in museum are so beautiful.

In Museum, I had surprised arrived church. Actually inside museum also can go into the church while the main door of church was closing. Then, I took this opportunity to see the beauty of the church.

The architecture of church is very beautiful. While inside of church, don’t forget to see the top because it also very amazing.

First, I would like to ask the help of other tourist to help me take a photo inside of church but I saw that many of them busy with photo taking therefore I plan to visit museum first and come back church for photo taking.

The times I came back to church, the church full of people to attend wedding so I had missed the chance for photo taking in church.

When I took a photo from library corner, I heard a guy said “She is so beautiful!” Then I was curious who is beautiful. After the guy walked away, I went to there to take a look. Wow, the girl really so beautiful so I had took a photo of she. The photo of the girl as below, agree or not with me, she is so beautiful? Hehe..

Inside of museum is quite big so if you have many times, you can slowly to enjoy the art in museum.I had gone into a gallery. Inside of gallery has lots of statues, collections and paintings too. When saw of statues, I also want to take photo with them. Therefore, I used my front camera to do selfie with them. I seldom selfie so I was difficult to adjust the picture include I with the statues plus the statues are big and tall so I give up.

I think a Japanese girl saw I took so long time in adjust my position with statues but still cannot get a good pose so she made a take picture gesture and said “Picture”. She wants to help me take photo with the statues. Then I passed my camera to the girl for helping me. This was my only picture which took by someone in museum. I was very appreciated for her help.

After that, I had tried to selfie with those statues but I did not upload the pictures in this blog because not so beautiful. Haha..

When I came out from museum, my friends were waiting for me outside of church. That time has many people and cars because the wedding was getting start.
